Kiosk present Accessibility & Inclusive Design seminar
Following recent appearances in Manchester and Cumbria, Kiosk’s Dave
Holden was invited to speak on his specialist subject – Accessibility
and Inclusive Design - to an audience in Blackburn.
The half-day workshop, hosted by Blackburn Technology Management Centre,
covered 4 main sections:
- Disability Discrimination Act 1995
- Understanding accessibility
- How to build accessible websites
- Providing accessible content
Organised by MITER [Manchester Institute for Telematics and Employment Research]
and Blackburn With Darwen Borough Council, the workshop highlighted the requirement
for websites to gain legal compliance; how this can be achieved; and the
importance of user-focus in generating and presenting content. Dave also
stressed the importance of user testing, and how this is an invaluable element
of any successful web development project.
Dave is recognised as a leading web accessibility expert, having developed
successful sites for a number of government organisations, public sector
clients and education bodies.
